Plymouth Peverell v Lewdown Blues

Well another fine victory keeps us top of the league but this was our hardest game yet Lewdown were asked to bat and bat well they did despite some excellent bowling Joe hb 4-2-1-6 Finn 4-0-0-8 Fahad 4-0-1-10 and Luke 4-0-2-10 restricting Lewdown to just 224 only 6 wides/no balls being the Key and yet another superb keeping display from Josh (no byes) behind the stumps in reply every pair came out in the positive once again in totalling 266 but we did lose 5 wickets thats 40 runs so some improvement is required in tighter games this will be so important as we were given 42 extras to help us home to a 42 run win nevertheless well done we are fast getting a reputation of being a good team

Well what can i say without doubt our best team performance to date in every department batting bowling and fielding in what was being billed as the weeks top game, well done to the whole squad.
We lost the toss and were asked to bat first Fahad and Charlie managed a positive start of 24 despite Fahad being bowled by a jaffa then the pairing of Liam and Josh added a further 15 to take our totall to 239 then up stepped luke complete with plaster cast and Alfie who added another 15 despite luke getting out twice having a heave at Cornwoods best bowler that left our last pair Finn and Joe HB to push on and how they did by adding 41 to close our innings on 295. Now to the bowling our top bowler Joe hb failed to get a wicket but up stepped the rest of the team Luke 2-18 Fahad 1-15 Liam 1-9 finn 1-35 Charlie 1-2 and a run out, all this combined with a top all round fielding performance was able to restrict a good team to 266 despite a spirited last pair partnership of 57 which could have taken the game away the bowling and fielding was good under pressure and gave us a deserved 29 run victory.

182 run win !

An absolutely fantastic performance played within the spirit of cricket giving the opposition utmost respect despite the obvious gap in abiliity thank you boys you were a credit to yourselves and Plymouth Cricket club !
Now to the match report we lost the toss and were asked to field on a sunny but cold night up on the moor, and what a fielding and bowling performance it was 13 wickets including 3 run outs with only 7 runs coming from the bat and only 11 wides or no balls delivered ,these can prove costly under the new system, reducing Lewdown to 128 from their alloted 18 overs with almost every bowler taking wickets for next to no runs i could mention all your names here but space and time forbids so i will just mention the top bowler Fahad Ali 4 wickets and the outstanding wicket keeping display of Josh Atwill in only his second game behind the stumps already standing up to our quick bowlers there were no Lewdown batsmen left with a positive score.
In reply everyone contributed and we only lost one wicket on the way to a total of 310 in our 18 overs PROPER BATTING , top scorer was Joe Hagen-Burt 18 no closely followed by Josh Atwill 13 no. Lastly i would like to thank all the parents for their time and effort in taking a fleet of cars on this very long journey for an evening fixture.

Well done !

Match Report Plymouth Pevu11 V Cornwood Oaks

Well done all who played including the substitute a resounding win against a young Corwood team. Plymouth won the toss on a sunny evening and decided to bowl, very good bowling reduced Corwood to a total of 168 off their twenty overs with only two of their batsmen registering positive scores J Hagen Burt 4-2-3-4 along with three run outs shone for the fielding side aided by Fahad Ali 4-1-2-4 and Alfie Turner 4-0-2-17. Plymouth batted steadily to reach a total of 279 off their twenty overs with Finn Bartlett 18 n.o. and Joe Hagen Burt 12 n.o.being the top batsmen, resulting in a 111 run victory. A good start to the season against a very sporting Cornwood side.
Well done !

Welcome to the new season which gets underway tonight, it is my pleasure to have been asked to come down from the under 15's to manage this great group of boys. It is right for me to mention that we start the season after successful winter indoor training and now a few weeks into the outdoor sessions on friday nights its also good to see some new faces congratulations to the four boys who have been selected to represent the region JOE HAGEN BURT,FAHAD ALI,FINN BARTLETT AND LUKE EDMONDS and with two of the above having represented the County it bodes well for the season. On a more important note none of this seasons fixtures can be fulfilled without the support of parents and this season it will be even more important because we dont have the assistance of Jo & Fred so can i ask that parents take a look at our fixtures and if possible look to "man or lady" the bar/kitchen hopefully this will not inconvenience anyone's enjoyment of watching the games too much.May i also thank the parents who attended the umpire/scorer course run by the palladium league and welcome Mr. Paul Haynes as my assistant and scorer . Lastly i hope we all enjoy a good season scoring lots of runs and taking lots of wickets but never forgetting to respect our opposition and honouring Plymouth Cricket Club and the Spirit Of Cricket.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !

Gerald
