U 13 Win their 8th game

General NewsTonight we played Tideford with 10 players again thanks to the manager not being able to count again!! However they were very young and learning how to play like we did when we were 10 years old. We bowled them out in 12 overs with 6 of our bowlers each bowling 2 overs Stevie C 3 for 3, Tom S 3 for 8 Travis 2 for 4 Jack D and Barney C 1 for 1 off their 2 overs. George P and Nick F knocked the runs off in 4.1 overs and Tideford wanted to practice so most players got a few overs with the bat. Only Plymstock to go and hopefully second place and a Bob Bridges game. We are looking good at the moment, shame about Lewdown still have not got over it.

Plymouth Peverell u13 notch up 6th win

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsPlymouth Peverell U13 batted first in the sunshine and made a good total of 147 for 6 against an Ivybridge side which tried but were not great. Jono 18 Claire 15 Stevie 29 George 31no and Ben S 16no including the biggest 6 by us for the season. Barney was given out LBW for 5 which was not out according to him. My reply was if you knew where it was why didnt you hit it. (courtesy the Sidmouth's lady scorer, she told me what her husband says to moaning batsmen.) Anyway Ivybridge never looked like getting them and closed 82 for 8 the fielding being very good and the best bowling from Tom S 2 for 6 from 3 and Travis Collins 2 for 8 from 3 while Barney took 2 for 7 from 4. According to Barney he should have had 3 as he bowled a little guy out off a height no ball but you guessed it, it was a not a no ball according to Barney. I said to him if he smiled at the umpire a bit more and stopped telling him that they were not wides etc. he might get a decision now and again. Wisdom is lost on the youth. Never mind you bowled well Barney. Only two games left and second place beckons weather permitting.

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsOn a perfect evening for cricket at Tideford, Plymouth bowled out the bottom of the table home side for 37 with Luke Edmonds pick of the bowlers on 3 for 5 off 4 overs.

In reply Plymouth laboured taking 15 overs to notch up the 38 runs required to win but ran out comfortable winners by 7 wickets. Louis Kiillick top scored with 7.

This was our fourth win of the season and puts in the top half of the table

Stop Press: Venu toppled from best bowling charts

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsHe still has the best bowling in a league game but the Plymouth "Pro" of 1889, one GIDMAN, took all 10 wickets against South Devon on 27th July - he bowled them all as well, to finish with 10-14. Bit odd really as South Devon had a player absent.......not sure how they worked that one out!

Startling news I know.

Phil

Sorry, had to be done........

U 13 Mount wise v Ivybridge

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsPlymouth returned to winning ways with possibly their best performance of the season so far against Ivybridge at Mount Wise.

Having won the toss Plymouth elected to bat and put on a total of 143 for 2 with Dan Goodey and Lewis Edmonds in fine form hitting 60 runs each.

In reply Ivybridge managed 90 for 8 with all of the Plymouth bowlers contributing to the fall of wickets, Dan goodey and Lewis Edmonds with 2 for 14 and 2 for 16 respectively.

This was an outstanding team effort and sets us up nicely for next weeks match against Tideford.

Under 13 v Under 12 Derby

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsThe two plymouth teams in the under 13 grade fought out a cricket match that seemed to mean everything to all players. Mt. Wise batted first and Lewis Edmonds top scored with 24 but Peverell bowlers went for pace and not accuracy trying to intimidate their younger club mates. 35 extras boosted the total to 77 for 7 wjth Ben Singlehurst taking 5 for 11, but he was taken off by the umpires after 3 noballs waist high and above. There was no maliice intended but with 3 missiles the umpires acted within the rules to protect the younger lads. In reply Peverell went off at a tremedous rate, they kept losing wickets but not momentum and Jack Dodge hit the winning runs in the eleventh over with 6 down. Jono top scored with 19 looking back to form and Lewis Edmonds took 3 for 24, a man of the match performance. It was played in a reasonably calm atmosphere the only one to get upset was me and i apologise to all and sundry. No Sleep

Save to del.icio.us  View Printable Version
General NewsJust a quickie - can Captains please ensure the scorecards are left at the clubhouse for me to pick up, probably each Tuesday. I'm away this week-end on a drin...cricket tour to I-O-W and plan to put the scorecards on the database on Thurs when I return.

Best of luck to everybody - Tom, we need a good start against Exeter.

Monks, enjoy your first game as Captain - it will be a proud moment!
