Our Campaign

Saturday 10th November 2007 - Save Cricket Website and Calendar and online petition launched.

Gordon Brown is spending £100 million to provide five hours of sport for every child in Britain. Two hours of sport will have to take place out of school at local clubs. Our volunteers already provide this opportunity week after week, year after year, at no cost to the tax payer. £20,000 is a mere 0.002% of his budget but it is a huge amount to a voluntary sports club! We WILL raise the money and MUST NOT let sports facilities be gradually eroded away.

Saturday 17th November - Evening Herald Report on Calendar and situation.

Tuesday 20th November - 1000 online petition entries (plus hundreds more gathered locally) - UNBELIEVABLE - Keep it coming - we want to crack 11,500 as soon as possible - that is an important number for us. Calendar update coming at the end of the month.

Monday 3rd December - Letter of Support from Michael Foot. In the same edition of the Herald there are three other reports about the loss of local sports facilities.

Monday 10th December - Fundraising Update available to club members only. Tour De Devon - Could you? Raise money, gather local support and try to get into the Guiness book of Records at the same time.

Saturday 21st December - Chance to Shine is coming to Plymouth. Plymouth Cricket Club will be taking cricket into local schools in partnership with the largest sports initiative ever undertaken in Britain.

Monday 14th January - Second Fundraising Newsletter. Available to logged-in club members only.

Saturday 20th April - Tour De Devon finished. Read the report here. What an effort!
