A very young Sunday X1 (apart from the Captain!!) just failed to beat a determined Topsham St James who obviously brought down a stronger side than the one we played earlier in the season.
Winning the toss & electing to bowl we managed to restrict Topsham to 165 and this would have been considerably less but for two of their batsman who scored 42 & 47 in a middle order partnership. All the bowlers stuck to their task of bowling line & length and the experience will be invaluable.
Plymouth started their innings strongly with Andy Sewell getting to 25 before perhaps playing too aggressively and holing out to mid off. Jonno Cummings stuck to his task of occupying the crease and with Jake Foley playing the circumspect aggressor they took the score onto 83 before Jonno departed for 29. Jake continued to be positive but was running out of partners and eventually perished going for 'big' runs for 49.
We are still top of the league with only 2 away games left - one win should secure us the title.
