Another 3/4 team represented the IIIs with no real realistic hope of winning - only the bowlers being represented fully (minus Jordan of course).
Dave won the toss and asked Barton to bat - at 20-3, things were looking good, Phil and Richie sharing the wickets. Barton's 4th wicket went at 45, again to Richie who bowled right through for figures of 3-36 but the chance had gone to take advantage of the conditions.
Barton recovered though, adding 62, Dave Palmer proving to be PCC's unlucky charm. Rich Gill took 4-52 in his 10 overs but Martin Gill unluckily remained wicketless as balls floated to the unmanned space from time to time.
Their total of 175 was always going to be far too many to compete against.
James Rothwell and Rich Macpherson opened the batting but James went early and PCC were 18-3 after 9 overs following Jake's first baller and effectively, that was that - we had two very very young Edmonds brothers and two friends of the Captain to come.....
Dave and the "Limpet" Rich Gill put on 30 but following Dave's dismissal for 9, only Martin Gill found double figures.
Rich batted for a remarkable 127 balls for his 23 - a tremendous display of concentration. it's not the first time he's done it and it's something that needs to be taken note of. All he needed was some batting partners.
PCC went from 61-4 to 75 all out - luckily Phil played a dire defensive shot allowing the ball to go through his gate and practically ring the bell - this however saved a potentially serious situation when Luke may have had to have faced the opposition opener. Too small, too fragile - a hit in the ribs? Best not to think about it - it's adult cricket.
