We knew that it was going to be hard but we didn't help ourselves by lossing too many wickets cheaply

We all gathered at Mount Wise and kept telling ourselves that this is the strongest team we had put out all season and hopes were running high of coming home with a few points.
The toss was costly to lose and Roy paid the price by collecting a duck on the 13th ball of our innings, a ball that didn't get up and sneaked under his attempt of a lock. Abo and Nigel Hughes stuck around and started to rebuild the innings putting on 53 in 10 overs. Abo rode his luck being put down then edging through the slips chipping in with 30 before trying to cut a ball caught the inside edge and was bowled. 2 runs later he was joined in the chaging room by Nigel caught on 17. Jimmy Haffenden and Joe Cunningham added a steady 24 before Jimmy was caught at extra cover trying to up the tempo, this stared a classic Plymouth collapse Rothwell 3,Deane 0, Kanpman 5 Jon Cummings 0 and Jack widnell 2, we fell like cards in a hurrican 1-0 2-53 3-55 4-79 5-82 6-82 7-92 8-92 9-101. Ben Singlehurst joined Joe and we crept to 101 before a tight call, an unexpected late call and probably a wrong call and Ben was run out.
The wicket was hard to bat on but we did make them look better than what they are, their fielding was very very good their bowling a good but we didn't fulfil our potential. I would say that we were 20-30 short of what we should have got.
After a unusual but lovely tea Ben Singlehurst and Jack Widnell opened up with some firey pace but the wicket wasn't giving anything back for the effort they were putting in and the "Old Warhorse" (Nigel Hughes) was given a go. Showing that he isn't ready for the Knackers yard just yet he seamed, spun and bowled with some wise wizzardary he claimed the first 4 wickets, a date with "michelle fiver" looked on the cards as they felt the pressure mount going from 33-0 to 54-4. But their wicketkeeper Will Hodgett got stuck into us and smashed 7 4s and 3 6s ending on 56no taking the game away from us a great pace. I wounder if we got him how much other batting they had it could have been alot more interesting and we could have come back with more points thn just 3.
Good fight, good fielding but okay bowling and poor batting cost us dear, Dartington this weekend and hopefully we can pull them into the dog fight at the foot of the table.
