Inexperience shows as under 10's just beaten by Cornwood Girls

The under 10 season got off to a losing start at Cornwood yesterday, as we went down to a narrow 10 run defeat. Having been put in to bat, Plymouth started well, and the first pair finished on 221. James Casey ended up top scoring. The middle pairs batted sensibly, with the final pair putting on a late burst to finish off on a total of 249, which was a competitive score.
The Girls innings started slowly, with wickets falling early, and with two overs to go, we were still ahead. The final two overs were played really well by the last pair however, and they saw them through to a 10 run victory.
As a team performance, this was a good effort, especially as some were playing their first games ever. Credit must go in particular to Callum Weir who bowled really well on debut, as did 8 year old Alfie Hagen Burt, who took a superb caught and bowled. The team played well together, and it was the only some inexperiemce in the side that cost us. The lads who played will learn a lot from this match, and this will stand them in good stead as the season progresses.
Well done to all of you - a good first game overall desoite the result.
