what a day........
The ones started the day in the best way possible by wining the toss and obviously deciding to bowl.
Burkey bowled out of his skin to take 5 wickets and was well supported by charlie at the top then jp and steve. a great seam bowling effort. Burkey was outstanding with his in swing and pulled us all along with him.A superb performance from the bowling unit saw nicksy take the final wicket at peverell. bowling gribble to finish them off for 86. Our fielding effort was decent but not exceptional. a couple of drop catches could have seen a good exeter side bowled out for less than 50.
We went straight back out and jack and monks set about knocking off the runs. The equation was simple. We couldn't lose more than 2 wickets if we wanted the full 20 points. Both monks and jack batted in a very sensible and responsible fasion to see us home without losing a wicket or more importantly any points.
Then the day got interesting!!!!!!!
A few spies at torquay were able to give us regular updates on their progress. the situation meant torquay had to win and could not lose any more than 6 wickets, any other result saw us safe.
We were all in the changing room listening intently to every ball. 30-0, 40-2, 50-3, 60-4 then 96-4, 116-4 became 116-5 with 4 overs to go chasing 144. The situation then came down to 11 off 10 balls 5 wickets down. They then lost another wicket and needed 7 off 5 balls and couldnt afford to lose another wicket. it came down to 3 off 1 ball. They ran 2 and tied. We were safe. We survived by the skin of our teeth!!
A real struggle all year but this is a time to celebrate a great day. well done lads. lets enjoy tomorrow and cause a shock we know we are capable of.

It was a tense few hours!
I think it is also fair to give a lot of credit to Plympton. They had nothing to play for and were assured of runners-up before the game so the fact that they made Torquay work so hard for their points says a lot about the pride they have in their club and performances.
