Plymouth Peverell U11 v Plympton St Maurice

General NewsThe long awaited cup semi final took place at Peverell tonight against top of the league Plympton St Maurice.

Plympton won the toss and elected to bat and things looked promising for Plymouth when opener Mat Bourbon was run out for 3 with Keiren Cooper following shortly afterwards bowled for 0 by Dan Goodey. Dan Hussey and Matt Singh though put together a good partnership for Plympton with figures of 20 and 25 retired respectively.

Plympton eventually moved on to 98 off the 20 overs a score which 9 times out of 10 Plymouth would have chased down. Plymouth lost Matt Bryant for 1 bowled Hussey but Dan Goodey carried on and made 23 before being bowled by Hussey with Lewis Edmonds retiring on 25.

A valient effort by Luke Edmonds and Henry Wilson almost saw Plymouth over the line and 3 off the last ball would have tied the match and seen Plymouth go through to the final on wickets lost but it wasnt to be.

The players were clearly disappointed after the match but there is alway next year to look forward to and lets not forget we havent yet finished the league season and should at the very least finish as runners up. A cup and league double would have been nice but Plympton are a very good side and we only lost to them by 7 runs in the opening league game of the season.

Next league match is Wednesday night at home against Yelverton Mosquitoes when we can get back to winning ways and put the cup defeat behind us. We then have a match against Tavistock at home on 4 August and a rearranged fixture against Cornwood Dels away probably in the same week - I will let you know.

Brad.
