General NewsWe have played all our games by the date designated. The first time in 10 years of coaching/managing in Devon.

Our last three games resulted in a drubbing by a very good Plympton team. They put out their best team against us and we were lucky to finish second. Jack Dodge hit a fast 29 and Barney Couldwell took 2 for 30 off 4 to slightly make up for running out the captain and then himself.
Next up was Tideford away at a ground I have never been to before but it was a beautiful ground on a warm evening. As a NZer you really appreciate English grounds after being brought up on park cricket where you play on a ground of 20 pitches and cricket balls coming at you from all angles. We batted first and Claire Varcoe smashed 44 including a massive 6 over square leg. She lived dangerously but it was a well deserved innings. Stevie Colmer also batted well scoring 46 not out and only getting 2 off the last ball to just miss out on a deserved 50. Nick Fennell hit 13 and our newcomer Adam Taylor was 12 not out. We made our top score for the season of 166 for 6. Tideford in reply looked good early but were bowled out for 99. Bowling honors went to another newcomer Travis Collins with 3 for 11 out perfoming Jack Dodge 2 for 14 and Barney Couldwell 2 for 19. Great catch by Nick Fennell.
Finally on Monday we played Cornwood Dels. We batted first and managed 98 for 5 with another beautiful innings by Jono who made 40 backed up by some hitting from Claire with 16 and George Price 19. We did have to go off for a rain shower but finished the game in sunshine. It looked all over when Cornwood Dels were 22 for 0 after 2 overs but enter Ben Singlehurst who bowled their star player Matt Schemmer middle stump and the game quickly swung our way. We restricted them to 77 for 6, Ben taking 2 for 7 and Dom Street 1 for 4 off 4. George and Jack both caught great catches and we ran out 2.

So we finished with 7 wins 4 losses + a loss in the cup game first round by 3 runs to Yelverton one of the top teams. It was a great season for an Under 12 team in an under 13 grade. I would like to thank Steve and Mike especially for taking over the team in my hour of need and helping out on Saturdays. Glen for doing the refreshments. Abo for doing the pitch and all the parents who came along and supported the team. I would also like to thank Stevie for being captain and the boys and Claire who played in the right spirit and were a credit to the club. We managed to give 17 players games. Well done for this season.
