Plymouth Cricket Club playing in a friendly environment

A debut, a defeat and a final game

Save to del.icio.us
Under 12's come so close to breaking their duck.

This season has seen the under 12's suffer some heavy defeats, but this has not dampened spirits within the squad. This was displayed against Ivybridge where a one wicket defeat saw the hard work form the practice finally coming to the fore in a match situation, and although the result was the same, the marked improvement evokes a sense of pride and that the stepping stones for next year are coming together.
Batting first, after the early loss of the openers, the middle order did really well to steady the innings and get us up to a competitive total. D. Pinegar scored 10 and W. Farrow's promotion up the order saw him bat well. The good, intelligent running of the middle and lower order meant that we scored 68.
In his last game for the club before he moves, A. Robertson was determined to go out with a bang, and he showed this by claiming 3 wickets, two of which were in consecutive balls. Unfortunatley the hat trick which would have really sent him off in style did not occur.
S. Bramwell on debut took two wickets, and there were also 2 wickets for W. Wentworth to continue his impressive stats for the season.
All of this meant that eventually we got to the situation of one wicket or one run would win it for either team. It was the run that came giving Ivybridge the win by one wicket. Credit must go to both teams for providing such a close game, played in the right spirit between two evenly matched teams.
Throughout the season, the whole squad has conducted itself fantastically in what has been a tough season. We have two games to play, lets see if we can get that much deserved victory. Its the under 13's next - here's hoping for a good game.
Good luck to Angus and the rest of the Robertson family who have been great servants to the club as they leave to pursye a new life.
